So far Hadley has done pretty well with not putting her lips and fingers all over Harper's face, but it's still REALLY hard for her, understandably. She's doing her best though. The doctor reminded us that any cooties that may cause a fever in the first 6 weeks of a baby's life would result in an automatic trip to the ER and a full work up, including a spinal tap...NO THANK YOU! I barely survived when Hadley had a high temp at 8 weeks and had to have a catheter inserted and multiple needle pricks to try to get some blood from her tiny little veins. I'm not sure I could handle anything like that again.
Harper's first trip to the doctor went well. She weighed in at 7 lbs 13 ounces (50%) and 20 1/2 inches in length (70%). We were called out as "totally second time parents" when the doctor stopped her examination of Harper and pointed out that Aron and I were sitting clear across the room filling out paperwork while chatting to each other, and not hovering over her shoulder asking a million questions like I'm certain we did with Hadley. We didn't even bring the camera! It begins...
Here are a couple pictures from our first full week at home:
Look at that perfectly round head. One of the very few upsides to a c-section. No wrinkly little old men-looking babies for us!
Hadley really wanted Harper to get IN the tub with her, but until that nasty little belly button nub falls off, it's only hovering for her.
SO EXCITING: Hadley starts ballet classes next month! It was only fitting that Gigi, a dancer for over 16 years, took Hadley to get everything (and more) she would need.
Pink soft ballet shoes, a black scoop neck leotard, and pink tights are the required attire for her ballet school...
...but that didn't stop Gigi from also getting Hadley a multi-colored tu-tu with matching head band!
