Sound the alarm!

This weekend was another scorcher, but thanks to some early morning outdoor activities followed by some creative afternoon indoor fun, we were able to have a GREAT weekend celebrating Daddy's return from California!

Such a happy firefighter!

You'd never know to look at that frilly skirt, patent leather shoes, and bright smile that she's shaking under the weight of that hose.

Ambulances and fire engines were out in Old Town to celebrate our local firefighters, and the girls were happy to partake in the grand tour and festivities.

Riding in the back seat and checking it all out

Getting one of two lifts down from a very gracious fireman

She wasn't quite sure why Mommy insisted on taking a picture in front of all the meters and valves, but I thought it looked cool and important to the overall operation of the fire engine!

Lucky girl got to flip the switch and turn on the lights!

Harper was not as excited about wearing her new hat, despite our best efforts.

The nice folks at the Orkin booth were happy to apply temporary tattoos and hand out rubber cockroaches.  Seriously?!  Rubber cockroaches?!  Thanks, Orkin.  I knew we switched for a reason!

Big ol butterfly and a lil bitty lady bug.

Keeping the theme of outdoor festivities going, we popped by the library to cool off and found the Signature Theater Open House fair being set up.  It hadn't officially opened yet, but that didn't stop us from playing a little skee ball.

That a girl!  Do what you have to do to win :)

While Hadley attempted to throw the mini basketballs more than 2 feet...

...Harper opted for a much more productive activity.

Falling under the action item "Make Cookies," my little baker mixed some brownie mix for our afternoon treat.

Make Cookies: Check!  Totally counts...

Another day, another sweet treat for my ladies.
Daddy had NEVER been to The Dairy Godmother so a family trip was over due.  And check out which  seat Mommy got!

Grass is always greener.
Harper was all over Daddy's Tollhouse custard instead of her vanilla.

After a long afternoon nap, we headed off to Gymboree to burn off any remaining energy before dinner.

Not sure who is more awkwardly positioned here.

Oddly enough, none of the other kids at Gymboree had a unicorn painted on their faces and down their necks.  Weird.

Future Olympic gymnast on balance beam?
Unlikely.

Good form, if only she'd open her eyes occasionally.

Another action item on our To Do list: Build a Fort.

We even made a TV out of a diaper box and a remote control out of the brownie box, so she could pretend to watch cartoons in there.  OR, be the cartoon by putting the box on her head and signing the Dora theme song, or giving us the weather, or being her own music video.
We were all pretty psyched at how great this turned out.

SO excited, that Hadley and Daddy both had a slumber party ALL NIGHT LONG underneath!
Mama's still patting herself on the back ;)
