Before we head north for a couple weeks...

Hadley and her friends, Olivia and Anna, visited the zoo this past week and had a grand old time. We got there in time to watch the elephants get their baths, and hit the gorilla yard when the whole family was out to play. This was a much more successful trip to the zoo than when Aron and I were over eager new parents of a 6 month old and thought taking Hadley to the zoo on the first nice WEEKEND day of the year was a good idea. This time Hadley could actually see the animals and appreciate what was going on…and there were about 50,000 less people there on a Wednesday!

It's a little tough taking pictures at the zoo since it's a very hands-on outting, but here are a few. And it was incredibly hot out, so don't judge the sweaty mommies below!

Praying they'd turn the hoses on the crowd!

You can't really tell, but the gorilla on the right is a mommy carrying her baby on her chest. SUCH a sweet sight! But then cranky pants on the left reached out and punched the mother gorilla in the arm as she walked by to the horror of all the human mommies in the crowd...but mama gorilla growled and flashed her big sharp teeth and the mean gorilla ran away. Don't mess with mommies and their babies!

Had was totally taken by Savannah the Hog

Sweaty cuties
Hads and I are off to Maine for a couple weeks, so we'll be back online in mid-July with pictures of foggy mornings, lobster boats, and scruffy fishermen!
