Flower Market

Growing up in Wilmington, the Flower Market was something we looked forward to every year. It was held in the park right next to my school so after years of going with our parents, we were eventually old enough to just sign out and ride the Zipper and grab some cotton candy before needing to be back for English class. So heading back home to bring Hadley to the Flower Market for the first time was something I was SO excited to do!

As is ALWAYS the case, the 3 days of Flower Market fell right in the middle of a week of rain. Thankfully, for the few hours we were there, it was dry, but we were covered in mud by the end. Since we got there before the rides were open, we started at the games and Had won a frog after catching herself a shark in the fish tank!

With the rides STILL not up and running we headed over to the tented area and sampled some cupcakes. We intended on only buying a chocolate cupcake but Hadley stuck her finger in a strawberry cupcake, so naturally we had to buy that one too. As such, we forced her to at least eat some of it.

No longer able wait for the rides to open from afar, Hadley took to a more obvious form of approach, in hopes to hurry the workers along:

Oh, how it seems so long ago that Hadley was smiling on a ride...here we are on our first ride of the day, blissfully unaware that this would be the last time Hadley smiled on any ride that day!

With that ride under our belt, which Hadley thoroughly enjoyed, we went to the next kiddie ride with high hopes. Notice the look on my face when I was told that grown ups usually sit behind the kids...this should have been the first sign...

And up we go...Hadley was NOT excited about that ONE BIT! When she wasn't trying to turn around and crawl over the seat and into my lap, she was crying and frantically signing "ALL DONE" with her hands. It was both hysterical and sad. Thankfully the ride operator stopped the ride for us so we could get off.

Safe again in Mommy's arms, with no desire to look at the ponies to make her feel better.

Baaaaaaa

Wouldn't you think this was the face of someone who had gotten over that scary ride and was SUPER psyched to ride the Merry-go-Round with Grandmommy??

Well, it WAS. But as soon as the starting bell rang Hadley panicked and needed off immediately. But even after handing her off to Granddaddy, she was very concerned for Mommy and Grandmommy's well-being back on that scary Merry-go-Round!

THERE'S that smile again!

Playing dress up with Grandmommy's AMAZING collection of jewelery from the 80's.

Because 1 totally awesome 80's hair clip just isn't enough.

Checking out the tiger at the Brandywine zoo. Pretty sure that mangy tiger was the same one my mother took me to see when I was Hadley's age.

So much hand sanitizer applied after petting this dirty goat.

Checking out the "B's!!" (birds) with Grandmommy

Because Hadley is an angel, she took an almost 4 hour long nap on Mother's Day, which kept her up late enough for us to have family dinner tonight!

Best Mother's Day ever!
